Artist and hunter William Cornwallis Harris was a military engineer with the East India Company, arriving in Cape Town from India in 1836.
In July of that year, he embarked on a hunting trip that took him from Port Elizabeth to Kuruman and on to the Magaliesberg. He sketched the animals he saw and on his return produced one of the first collections of African wildlife paintings.
These were published in his book 'Portraits of the Game and Wild Animals of Southern Africa', published in London in 1840.
These images are now available to you on beautiful greeting cards for all occasions.
