Dylan Thomas: The Poems, edited by Daniel Jones (used)
This volume contains nearly two hundred poems by the Welsh poet whose untimely death in 1953 robbed the word of a unique literary talent. It includes all the verse of the Collected Poems 1934-1952 together with over one hundred other poems previously either quite inaccessible or not easily accessible. It is therefore the most representative collection of the poet's work available in one volume.
A poet does not live in a vacuum, and the various influences on Thomas's life emerge clearly from the chronological arrangement of his work which is a feature of this edition, and which also helps to reveal the relationship between poems written about the same time, and the development of the poet's technique and imagery. In 1978 an example of Thomas's 'pub poetry', recently discovered by Wynford Vaughan Thomas and never before published in any anthology, was added.
condition: worn (yellowed pages, some water damage but still perfectly readable)
