Essential south african literature

Such honest and raw South African tales can be hard to find, and this is one that cuts down any subtlety when it comes to race related stories and instead tells the almost hard to read story of the same situation from very different perspectives. Hardly anything good happens in this, which makes it a very tense read, but a very impactful and thought provoking one too

Interesting Read !!!

Many people will tell you that academic reads are boring and dull. However, this book proves all those people wrong. Craig Higginson depicts the story of an old money family in post-apartheid South Africa. This book can be quite difficult to understand however with an open mind and a dictionary next to you, you are set for an adventurous journey. I have mixed emotions about the book as I felt that it had no conclusion but the lessons in the books were enough for me to find it intriguing. Craig Higginson teaches us the importance of truth and memory. The characters in this book are all different from each other and we see how they influence each other’s development. Even though the book does not follow a chronological order, the story all comes together at the end where we realise that everything is not how it seems.

Very interesting read

The writer has an immersive and creative way of writing its phenemonal. The use of atmospheric devices is brilliant in conveying the moods and atmosphere. Perfect and worth the read
