David Medalie's first collection of skilful tales presents moving and insightful portraits of South Africans with very little access to one another's lives. Prior to its publication this collection was awarded the 1988 Ernst van Heerden Creative Writing Award.

David Medalie studied English at the University of the Witwatersrand and at Oxford University, and is currently teaching in the English Department at the University of Cape Town whilst completing his Doctorate.
