Henri Kuiper is remembered as a wunderkind, still in his early thirties, who grabbed the ailing Sunday Times/Rand Daily Mail group by the neck, replaced editors, brought in a new work ethic and placed it firmly on the road to success. Denied the well-earned position of chairman, he re-directed his talents into banking, finance and industry, serving as chairman of a number of blue-chip companies. Then, in his mid-eighties, he started the Enlighten Education Trust in Hermanus which earned him and his wife a Mayoral Award for their 'Lifetime dedication and excellent, unselfish contribution to the community of the Overstrand.

'I have followed the evolution of your charitable endeavours with great interest and admiration. It is proof that clear eyed thinking, determination, enthusiasm coupled to plain old management skills can make a huge impact on the lives of people. This will be an ever living monument to your vision and the person you are.' - Gordon Parker
