Edited by: Oluwaseun Tella. This edited academic volume examines curriculum transformation in humanities faculties, arguing that South African universities should learn from decolonisation efforts undertaken elsewhere in Africa since the 1950s — such as the Ibadan School of History and the Dar es Salaam School of Political Economy — as well as from African-American Studies programmes in the United States. It contends that, despite three decades of democracy, South African humanities curricula remain rooted in European models, and calls for comparative analysis across these contexts to challenge Eurocentric approaches to knowledge.
