Time Out — Joburg gets a new library at Victoria Yards

Time Out covered the opening of the Gearhouse Library at Victoria Yards — a container library run through the Johannesburg Literary District, stocked with a collection that puts African authors front and centre.

"We're creating a library space for kids who may not have access to one at school."

"They're sponsoring the librarian, and there's another group called Chabad House."

The library works with after-school programmes and nearby schools, and was officially launched on 4 December 2025.
