Home Going is a book based on the colonisation of Ghana. This book follows the lineage of an Asante woman whose descendants are separated by slavery. This book requires an open-minded approach to reading it as it contains sensitive topics and invokes thoughts on controversial concepts such as slavery, consent, and betrayal. As a book focussed on the more mature age groups, it truly meets the author’s goal of telling a story that starts thought provoking conversations. I enjoyed reading this book and it has even helped me broaden my thinking when it comes to certain topics such as mental health and generational curses. I do believe that this is a book worth reading, especially for young Africans.
