I only know a handful of classical novels that hold their relevance as much as 1984. It's a brilliant work of fiction that left me feeling unsettled by the end of it.
I AM COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH AWSOME BOOK ITS A MUST READ . THE QUOTES AND THOSE IMPORTANT LINES GIVES US THE COURAGE TO THINK ABOUT OUR FUTURE. HOPE THIS ENCOURAGED , IF YOU ARE INTRESTED IN FICTION OR SCIENCE FICTIONS TRY READING THIS BOOK. In 1949, George Orwell completed his masterpiece, a book which would later gain four major film adaptations, and created words such as telescreen, thoughtcrime, and doublethink, which are used and are in today's dictionary: 1984. A true work of genius, as well as my all-time favorite and least favorite novel (here I exercise doublethink) it's truly a masterpiece.
This book fully describes a dystopian version of the world that we live in, in a way that leaves a deep impression on the reader. I have read this book twice and I cannot get rid of the long lasting impact that it has left on me and how I view the world today. If the world today had to be under a totalitarian rule, nobody would survive. People’s lives are controlled by the government and every move they make is watched. It is just a sad book to read as a whole and it made me rethink how lucky I am because people in the past have lived through such terrible times of oppression. If you want to get insight into how cruel people in power can be then I definitely recommend reading this book.
As a picture of the world, Orwell's is bleak; in fact, some might argue, many would argue that it is too bleak, as it may deprive those with faint hearts of hope. There was never a desire on Orwell's part to take away hope from the world. In order to shock our hearts into resistance, he intended to show us the authoritarian nightmare as a monument of stasis, a testament to surveillance and control that he intended to impress upon us all. There is no doubt that George Orwell has captured the essence of dystopia in the modern world.
A chilling and gripping dystopian novel. Though well written the character do lack depth. The novel takes place in Airstrip One formerly Great Britain. The characters of the novel are victims of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance and public manipulation. The novel leaves much to the imagination of the reader and is a well-loved classic.
