Essentially a love story that takes its cues from life in a South African township

A young woman named Mahlomu meets Mqhele Zulu and they fall in love. Even though aspects of Mqhele's personality and past make her uncomfortable, Hlomu is happy. Their love is strong and they stand by each other through good and bad. But Mqhele and his seven brothers have a dark and tumultuous past that involves a dead warlord father, mob justice, and lots of unaccounted-for money.

The Zulu brothers are rich, handsome, powerful and dangerous. They eventually become one of the wealthiest and most powerful families in Johannesburg - but the inherent danger remains.

An exquisite read .

Such a beautiful book. I love the plot of the story and the familiar places that the author used. The book engages with the reader’s emotions and makes one believe in the purity of love. I love how Hlomu unapologetically loves Mqhele despite his family history and the dodgy things that they are involved in. I also love how Mqhele also reciprocates that love to Hlomu. It has honestly made me look at taxi drivers in a different perspective. Would recommend, beautiful story.

Roller coaster of emotions!

Reading this book will take you along the most amazing journey of emotions - from anger, happiness, sadness to fear and expectancy. It is a great read for people who love love. The relationship between Hlomu and Mqhele isn’t all fairytale and rosy, but it explores the aspects of the genuine and real kind of love.

A gem

It is not everyday that one comes across a love story written by and for a black African the 2000's. The opening chapter is set in Bree Street....hello......the main characters live in Naturena..... and somewhere in there there is drama in Clearwater mall. Very relateable. Besides the familiarity of the Hlomu character and setting the storytelling reminds me of chats with my friends...easy just. To top it all the story is one of love. Zulu Taxi Love!! Toxic, scary, funny, addictive love. Once you start the journey with Hlomu you will struggle to let it go. Once you meet the Zulu brothers with their bug-eyes and shady lives you will never look at a tall dark Zulu Taxi driver the same. Enjoy. It's a gem.

An evocative love story

This is an amazing book. The love story between Hlomu and Mqhele is one of a kind. Their love for each other is engrossing and makes you want to read more and more. Such an intriguing book, the storyline is everything and out of this world. Dudu is an epic author. Absolutely love her work and the hlomu series. I recommend reading this book more than twice.
