This book is beautifully written and in its whole really highlights how important it is for young black girls to love and be empowered by their hair. The book also celebrates the beauty of taking pride of your culture and identity as an individual.
The book is inspiring especially to girls who wear their natural hair on an everyday basis.
I loved Wanda, resonated so well with my childhood.Wish it was around when I was a child, definitely enjoyed reading it to the kids.
Our student volunteers routinely ask to read Wanda at our storytime because the book resonates so strongly with them.
