A Reshma Patel and Ian Jack thriller.

The first body was found in the Hartbeespoort Dam. An unidentified woman, presumably drowned, washed up on the banks of an exclusive golf estate. Next came the discovery of a grisly crime scene deep underground in Johannesburg, somehow connected to a second woman found dead in the Jukskei River where it ran through Alexandra.

Excellent crime fiction novel set in JHB

Really enjoyed another look into the lives of the crime fighting duo Reshma and Ian, and the dark and twisted underworld of Johannesburg. Great piece of crime fiction with some nail biting twists. This is a South African crime novel with a dash of magical mystery added to it - an element which I appreciated and enjoyed. Reshma Patel and Ian Jack's work lives intertwine as they work hard at uncovering separate cases, but eventually come together to solve a bigger mystery.
Crime novels aren't my usual fare, but I read them when I like the author, and I'm rather fond of NR Brodie. Three Bodies follows on from her occult-noir novel Knucklebone, where we meet Reshma Patel and Ian Jack, who initially work together to solve crimes related to an animal poaching ring. Both realise that there is more to reality than meets the eye, though. Then again, if you tangle with sangomas, expect things to get a bit strange.

Three Bodies by NR Brodie

Nechama's language and narrative are replete with genuine South African culture (or, more precisely, a blending of our varied cultures), delivering slang and intimate details perhaps only understood by people from that country. Additionally, this story didn't come off as tacky or cringe-worthy, in contrast to many others that use slang and pop culture allusions. That was great, and I enjoyed it. The plot was underwhelming, though, in my opinion.

Three Bodies by NR Brodie

This South African criminal tale has a touch of mystical mystery added to it, which I found to be a welcome and enjoyable addition. As they diligently investigate different cases, Reshma Patel and Ian Jack's professional lives entwine. However, they finally work together to unravel a larger mystery.
