An indaba or get-together of twenty-three interviews with a wide range of African writers - some of great documentary value (Guy Butler, Fatima Dike, Doris Lessing); some reprinted widely (Nadine Gordimer, Sipho Sepamla, Véronique Tadjo) and yet others presenting haunting interpretaions of the present (Nuruddin Farah, Michèle Rakotoson, Sheila Roberts).
