Early in August 1979, a small private aircraft took off from Johannesburg on its flight to Zimbabwe. The pilot, Thomas Barlow, was fired by a passion: to obtain first-hand information about the suffering, mainly of the black church, during the terrorist war which still raged in that country at that time.
Being a keen Christian himself, he shared the conviction with many others that the ultimate issue of that war was a spiritual one.
