A short story about a village elder who goes to find the ‘far away shining’ that appeared at the end of a forest many years earlier and has mystified everyone.
The purpose of this book is to entertain and hopefully move anyone of any age who reads it, exciting interest in trees and forests and the importance of preserving them.
Frank Horley was born in Nakuru, Kenya in 1941. His first illustrations were for Okot p’Bitek’s Song Lawino and its sequel, Song of Ocol. Other work includes writing and illustrating Kijana, silk-screened by Fred Schimmel, and writing, illustrating and publishing An African Alphabet.
