Yet it has never had the acclaim and attention deserves. In this book, fifty years on from the diaryʼs first publication, a distinguished cast of contributors come together to shed new light on t he remarkable qualities of the diary and the circumstances in which it was written. Three short stories included in this collection, from acclaimed writers, are inspired by it.
