"You'll never be half the man he is Michael" These are the words that ring in Mike's head, over and over. After everything he did for her, she had the nerve to compare him to his a wet behind the ear school boy. Even though he chose to forgive Nombulelo, these words still echo in his ears. He married her finally, but from time to time, Mike is reminded of what he went through because of her, especially since his mother keeps visiting him from beyond the grave.

These visits have created confusion in him. He finds these two different worlds collapsing around him. Mike is a born again Christian, but lately, he finds it hard to separate God from the ancestry world. He can't seem to be able to draw the line between the two. He's now even doubting the mere presence of God.

 After his release from prison, Mike did the unthinkable. He married Nombulelo, even though he no longer trusts her. He struggles with trust issues now, and he can see that he will never be able to trust her completely.
