From its establishment in 1990, Snailpress- the imprint founded and driven with extraordinary brio by Gus Ferguson - published over fifty volumes of poetry. The list has been described by Patrick Cullinan as 'wonderfully heterodox.

Other adjectives come to mind: independent, idiosyncratic, unconventional and engaging. Over the years Snailpress poets received a number of prestigious awards, and their work created an energy that enlivened South African poetry.

Now to mark this achievement and to spread this wealth of poetry, Robin Malan has compiled a selection of poems first published under the Snailpress imprint.
