'I have been a teacher most of my adult life and never regretted my choice. Through teaching I discovered more than I could have imagined- how basic and yet transient are the sacred and the profound, and why it is that there are no easy answers. It is no accident that this collection is so concerned with death: it is partly because I am myself much closer to it now, and partly because sense with some urgency that, as Voltaire said, "Nothing is better than life."' - DON MACLENNAN
Born in London in 1929, Don Maclennan came to South Africa in 1938. He has spent most of his working life as a teacher and lecturer in the United States of America and South Africa, retiring from Rhodes University after thirty years. He has published plays, short stories, collections of poems and scholarly works.
