The Animals Came Two by Two by Christopher Wormell (used)

Acclaimed Eng­lish wood engraver Christo­pher Wormell has writ­ten a beau­ti­ful account of the Noah’s Ark sto­ry. Wormell’s strik­ing wood­cut illus­tra­tions illu­mi­nate the retelling of this bib­li­cal tale. Ani­mals are intro­duced not by type, but by appear­ance or tem­pera­ment, a unique direc­tion for this famil­iar sto­ry. For exam­ple, below the illus­tra­tions of the mouse and the ele­phant are the words, ​“From the small…to the large”, and the swan and the platy­pus are described as ​“the famil­iar” and the ​“strange”. The full page illus­tra­tions beau­ti­ful­ly enhance the book. Detailed infor­ma­tion about the fea­tured ani­mals fol­lows the sto­ry. This one will be pop­u­lar dur­ing group sto­ry time, as young chil­dren will delight in the large pic­tures and expla­na­tions of each ani­mal.
