Good condition, 1982 edition from David Philip

First published in 1956 (and 'banned' in South Africa until August 1982), this novel won the British Authors' Club award as the best book of the year in 1957.

Transvaal Episode is set in the fictional Transvaal town of Nelstroom. One day a new man comes to live in the town's black 'location' and his arrival is the signal for new currents, new tensions and new emotions to the shabby streets and houses. Then from a trivial incident grows a fire that sweeps the whole town and its inhabitants.
