Herman Charles Bosman is one of South Africa's most famous short story writers. He also has two unforgettable novels to his credit – Jacaranda in the Night and Willemsdorp. In Willemsdorp he uses his magical story-telling qualities to tell the story of Charlie Hendriks, the editor of a small-town newspaper, and his involvement with people like Lena Cordier, Cyril Stein and sergeant Brits. It is a gripping and moving story, told with subtle humour.

Willemsdorp is part of a series of eight Herman Charles Bosman titles reissued in a uniform edition by Human & Rousseau. The other titles are Unto Dust, Jurie Steyn's Post Office, Mafeking Road, A Cask of Jerepigo, Jacaranda in the Night, A Bekkersdal Marathon and Cold Stone Jug.
