Our Sister Killjoy, by Ama Ata Aidoo

Sissie, a young Ghanaian woman on a scholarship, travels to Europe for the first time and turns a sharp eye on what she finds: an embassy cocktail party, a lonely mother in a Bavarian castle, expatriates in a cold London romanticising life abroad. On the flight home she writes a letter to her exiled former lover that she never sends. First published in 1977, Ama Ata Aidoo's feminist satire of diaspora, colonial legacy and racism mixes prose, poetry and letter. This Faber Editions paperback includes an introduction by Ayesha Harruna Attah.
