The Social Change Assistance Trust (Scat) works with its rural partners in remote places where communities have endured the worst excesses of apartheid and continue to live with its brutal legacy of poverty and injustice. This book is filled with the voices of people who have too often seen the promises of democracy fade, eclipsed by deepening poverty, the gendered ravages of HIV/Aids and the often excruciatingly slow provision of services.
