The White Life of Felix Greenspan

A sequel to "The Celibacy of Felix Greenspan," this autobiographically-inflected novel follows Felix Greenspan, a Johannesburg Jewish man born with cerebral palsy, across roughly fifty years of his life — from childhood trauma and institutional schooling through political awakening, writing, relationships, and reflections on identity and mortality. Author Lionel Abrahams shared his protagonist's disability, and the novel is shot through with what one description calls "glimmerings of Africa's otherness, promise and menace."
