Raphael d'Abdon was born in Udine (Friuli, Italy) and lives in Tshwane. He has read his poetry in South Africa, Italy, Nigeria and the United States, and his poems appear in anthologies, journals, and magazines. In 2007 he compiled and translated into Italian the anthology I nostri semi - Peo tsa rona. Poeta sudafricani del post-apartheid (Napoli, Mangrovie). In 2011 he translated into Italian (with Lorenzo Mari) Bless Me Father, the autobiography of the South African poet Mario d'Offizi (Roma, Compagnia delle Lettere). In 2013 he compiled and edited the volume Marikana, A Moment in Time (Geko, Johannesburg) and published his debut poetry collection sunnyside nightwalk (Geko, Johannesburg). With Myesha Jenkins and Natalie Molebatsi, he has co-edited Afrodysiac. A collection of South African erotic poetry, which will be published by Cassava Republic Press.
