At a time where natural African hair is starting to be embraced, some people still feel the need to shame young black girls for it. This book is really inspirational as it reminds young black girls that they have beautiful crowns and they do not need approval from anyone to wear their hair how they want. It’s a beautiful empowerment to girls who felt like because their hair could never be straight enough or soft enough, it’s not beautiful enough.
Loved the representation. The illustrations are beautiful and the story flowed well. Definitely an excellent book to have on your bookshelf.
Great book. Teaches children that it's okay to be brave and your must speak out for yourself if you feel injustice.
