On one level you can be entertained; on another, informed. You can despair, you can hope. For Hijack! delves deep into the dark side of the rainbow nation that offers all, threatens all.

Main protagonist is a petty Cape Flats gangster, one Eddie Beukes, who quickly finds that having "multiple bullets in his arse" is far from being "that… nanosecond between life and death would play itself out in technicolour splendour".

Instead it means overwhelming pain; a police boot connecting with his already shattered thigh.
