This new collection is the fourth volume to appear of this young poet's work, and shows a further striking increase in maturity and power.
Jen Couzyn is certainly one of the most original poets writing today, both in the subjects and in the forms of her poems. Nothing is derivative: everything is new, everything is honest in its marriage of intellect and passion.
The reader enters a world which may sometimes seem strange at first, but soon, fired by the poet's powerful imagination, will find there new and profound insights into love and violence, human life, and the animal kingdom.
Jeni Couzyn has been working as a freelance poet for ten years. She has twice received grants from the Arts Council of Great Britain, and recently from the Canada Council. Born and educated in South Africa, she made years has divided her time between Canada and England. Her reputation continues to grow. HOUSE OF CHANGES is her fourth collection of poems.
