Eva Royston was the pen name of Eva Bezwoda, a South African poet active in the 1960s-70s who contributed to several literary journals; this 1973 collection (Renoster Books) was her major published work. She died by suicide three years after its publication, a fact scholars have noted seems congruent with the themes and preoccupations running through her poems.
