Only Hyenas Laugh, by Pieter Lessing (used)
During 1962-63 Pieter Lessing, author of Africa's Red Harvest, set out with his wife on a year's 20,000-mile trip by Land-Rover through Southern, Central and Eastern Africa. In the course of what he describes as 'the most recent of my foolhardy travels' he was arrested after leaving Angola and thrown into a Congolese prison. He found himself on both sides of the war in Katanga and was in Elisabethville at the time of Tshombe's surrender to the United Nations.
All these experiences form the background to a highly topical, controversial and - one might say- alarming book.
Condition: clothbound hardcover in good condition, but dust jacket is worn with some tearing
