Through imaginative flight he experiences the colorful history of Pilgrim's in a uniquely personal sense. Views of the trek inland over tracts of lowveld wilderness, scenes of rollicking pub life and the search for alluvial gold, major episodes affecting the fate of the gold mining company and images of romantic interludes, unfurl with vivid and poetic intensity. His imaginations are consummated in a transcendent vision of peace and unity of national dimensions. Though he does not acquire the sought after land he gains an insight into himself and faith in a tendency to dream.
