This book lies somewhere between journalism and history, with an excellent summary of the history of the Afrikaner people from the great trek to 1981, including the fraught politics of the Apartheid years to that point.

We are shown the drivers of Afrikaner nationalism, with no punches pulled in describing British actions in the Anglo-Boer war, as well as the beginning of the forces of African nationalism that would later lead to the downfall of Apartheid.
